Voces Mudas
This first book of the young Colombian poet Lilián Pallares is a revelation for its maturity and the pathways it opens, and for the amplitude of its horizons. A passion for music impregnates the whole collection such that the reader becomes submerged in rhythmic waves of images.

Voces Mudas ('Silent Voices'), is Lilián pallares' first collection of poetry. Published by the Progreso y Cultura Foundation in 2010, it includes an album with interpretations of 15 of the poems, set to music by Shangó Dely. Both the book and CD are available in digital formats.
It has the wonderful energy of the Caribbean in flower, each beat of the drum is a petal, each of her words a stamen, pistil, pollen, and the complete harmony of a hibiscus reddening in the afternoon sun.

Y sonó la alarma (And the Alarm Rang) is also based on a poem from Voces Mudas. Created for the competition 'Participa Méliès' organised by the Caixa Bank, it is inspired by the filmmaker Georges Méliès with a modern perspective. Directed by Charles Olsen it was featured in Moving Poems. The music is composed and performed by Pablo Rubén Maldonado.
Lilián's poems are of life, of touch, of strength, because their power reaches the senses and makes them feelings: here the soul is a colour, happiness a sound, sadness and fear are a heavy atmosphere, affection an embrace, and life is a delicious fruit.
