The Observed Word

Poetic video-creation workshop

With the poetry filmmakers Lilián Pallares and Charles Olsen, we explore how a poem can become a collaborative audiovisual piece, as they did with Noho Mai, a collaborative poetry film in te reo Māori—made between Spain and Aotearoa New Zealand during the pandemic—which won 'Best Poetry Film' in the 8th Ó Bhéal Poetry Film Festival in Ireland, 2020, and A-Dentro ('In-Side'), created during a workshop in the Fundación ONCE in the context of the VIII Biennial of Contemporary Art 'Woman and Disability', 2023.

From verse to screen

With poems written during the workshop we look at different ways to take poetry to the screen before preparing and filming our own collaborative piece.

The workshop can be adapted to the objectives and themes relevant to each institution; for example, a piece taking as inspiration an exhibition, a theme pertinent to contemporary society, or a special cycle the institution is developing, etc.

¿Who is it for?

Anyone interested in the visual, poetry, painting, video, music and art in general.
